Evaluation is an integral component of teaching learning process. It helps not only in supplying feedback to rectify the shortcomings of students but also in identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the teachers.

A Pilot-Project on ‘Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation’ was launched in 2007-08, selecting one block in each of the 12-districts. In the selected blocks students of Class-I-V were evaluated on the basis of CCE. Pupils were assessed as per the pedagogical needs stated in NCF-2005 i.e. different learner learn differently, quality of teaching, beyond the examination hall, paper- pencil test. Pupils' achievements, both in scholastic and co-scholastic domain were kept in view. 

Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) refers to a system of School Based Assessment that covers all aspects of a child’s development. Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) has been introduced in the State for bringing about quality improvement not only on curricular level but also on over all personality development of students. We understand that teaching, learning and evaluation is a continuous process and in order to ensure proper learning, child should be evaluated in very short intervals and identified gaps should be bridged through remedial teaching. CCE helps in improving students' performance by identifying his/her learning difficulties at regular time intervals right from the beginning of the academic session and employing suitable remedial measures for enhancing their learning performance.

In the current academic session 2021-22, due to pandemic COVID 19, a uniform schedule for all types of assessment in the Government of Himachal Pradesh (Summer and Winter clossing schools) has been implemented:

Other written records to be maintained:

1. Oral assessment (part of FA) – marks to be given for reading, comprehension, discussion & answering abilities – in CCE register

2. 3 assignments to be given, per term, per subject. Records to be maintained in CCE register

3. Student Portfolios to be maintained for each student

4. Co-scholastic records – co-scholastic aspect of each student – interpersonal relationships, moral & national values, sports, arts & extra-curricular to be considered & recorded in CCE register

School Responsibility- School incharge, Principal, HM/CHT as the case may be, should ensure that teachers maintain all records as mentioned above, for all students. All these records, including the CCE register will be duly inspected from time-to-time and will be uploaded on the e-Samwad App.
